What to do in and around Lyon
Here’s a round-up of all the main events in Lyon and its metropolitan area. To your diaries!
Nuits Sonores: The French festival that is entirely devoted to electronic and indie music, as well as innovative, visual and digital culture, will take place from 7 to 12 May 2024.
Nuits de Fourvière: Held in the Roman theatres of Fourvière Hill, this festival brings a touch of magic to Lyon’s summer evenings each year. We look forward to seeing the artists on stage, in a programme combining drama, dance, circus arts and music, in June and July 2024.
Woodstower Festival: This “eco-festival” is held at the end of summer on the edge of the lake at Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage: from 29 August to 1 September 2024. We look forward to four days of partying to a superb selection of rap and electronic music.
Jazz à Vienne: While this event is not held in Lyon, it is a major event on the local music scene will take place from 27 June to 12 July 2024.
Lyon Street Food Festival is back with 4 days of festivities and a world tour of flavours from 13 to 16 June 2024, for just as much pleasure and enjoyment as ever!
The women’s tennis tournament Open 6eme Sens is returning from in February 2024 at the Palais des Sports in Gerland.
For those who like to take on a challenge, the Lyon Urban Trail will be held on 24th March 2024 the Lugdunum Roller Contest, for 2 days from 18 to 19 May 2024, the Ultra boucle de la Sarra on 24 and 25 May 2024, and the women’s cancer awareness run Courir pour Elles in 26th May 2024 at Parc de Parilly.
This year's major event will of course be the 2024 Olympic Games! Lyon will be hosting all the football matches between 24 July and 9 August 2024, for both men and women.
Horse riding enthusiasts will be gathering at the next edition of Equita Lyon from 30 October to 3 November 2024 at Eurexpo.
NordicWalkin'Lyon by Alptis, the event dedicated to walking in an urban environment, will take place in October 2024, while the long-awaited running festival, Run in Lyon, awaits you in the starting-block on 6th October 2024.
The expected Biennial of Contemporary Art, which will be held from 1st September 2024 to 5th January 2025, has added a new must-see venue to its address book for 2024: Les Grandes Locos in La Mulatière!
The Lumière Festival will be putting the spotlight on Lyon, the cradle of cinema, for a whole week of classic films, in the presence of international stars of the silver screen, in october 2024.
The Silk in Lyon festival will offer a chance to discover French-made fabrics and products, in November 2024 at the Palais de la Bourse in Lyon.
Last, but certainly not least, Lyon’s famous Fête des Lumières (Festival of Lights) at the beginning of December 2024. 4 nights to see the city differently!
Lyon's Fair will run from 22 March to 1 April 2024
The Quais du Polar international crime fiction festival is coming to Lyon from 5 to 7 April 2024. On the programme: meetings, book signings, events, investigations, exhibitions focusing on dark fiction...
Lyon BD Festival will be taking place over the 1st fortnight of June 2024 at various venues across the city.
The Marché de la Mode Vintage (Vintage Fashion Market) invites fashion addicts and bargain hunters on 23 and 24 September 2024 at La Sucrière.
