Opposite Lyon’s Hôtel de Ville, the Lyon National Opera House stands with its majestic dome. Only the four walls of this nineteenth-century building remain: the rest was redesigned and modernised by French architect Jean Nouvel in 1993. He tripled the building’s surface area, creating 18 floors, from the basement to the dome.

In this modern red and black building, ballets, operas and concerts punctuate the cultural season. Opéra de Lyon was voted Best Opera Company of the Year at the 2017 International Opera Awards!

If you are looking for a show or evening activity for your clients, try the Opera: it is a superb choice for both French and non-French speakers, thanks to the diversity and quality of its programme and productions.

It offers a great opportunity to combine exploration of the city with an evening of culture!
