A charming boutique-hotel
In the heart of the Ainay district, Hôtel de l’Abbaye is breathing new life into a historic building.
Standing opposite the Romanesque basilica of Saint-Martin d’Ainay, and looking out over a charming and peaceful little square, this new four-star establishment strikes a perfect balance between quality and intimacy.
Abbaye d’Ainay is one of Lyon’s oldest churches. Built in the twelfth century, and modified several times until the nineteenth century, it offers glimpses of its prestigious past and reveals the richness of its brick inlays.
The former nineteenth-century presbytery, which was converted into a school in 1910, has preserved its historical character, with its staircase, vault and cornices here and there in the corridors.
The tone is set: gentle, natural colours – khaki, ochre and brick – add touches of warmth to the stone walls, in a stylish designer ambiance.
With 21 unique, tastefully decorated rooms, located on three floors, this boutique-hotel gives guests the impression of a privileged stay in a family home. The interior harmoniously blends designer and family objects.
For to one to four people, the rooms combine comfort and charm in a calm environment.
Ideal for families, the 30 m² rooms offer a lounge corner with a view over the roofs of the abbey.
On the ground floor, the Café Basilic welcomes guests and passers-by in a stylish bistro setting. The perfect spot for a quick bite to eat or a tea break with delicious home-made pastries!
Feeling peckish? The restaurant L’Artichaut, offering capacity for 45 diners and open to all, serves market cuisine that gives pride of place to local produce. A delicious culinary discovery, totally in keeping with the times.
