Museum of firefighters of Lyon Rhône

Created in 1971, it is the largest fire service museum in France and perhaps Europe. It tells 250 years of history and is a place of remembrance for the fire service. On 2 floors, it exhibits a collection of equipment, clothing, vehicles, etc.
"Musée de France" (Museum of France) approval was granted in 2005.
The museums is divided into several sections: pumps from the 17th century to the present day, various types and models; equipment and clothing: items for fire extinction, rescue, resuscitation, breathing equipment, etc, a unique collection of helmets from France and elsewhere from the early 19th century to the present day (one of the largest collections in the world); a Souvenir room: trophies, flags; mobile equipment: about ten vehicles which vary according to the temporary exhibitions. The 150 vehicles in the collection can be seen during Heritage Days.
There is also a shop.
