Carrefour des Cultures Africaines
150 cours Gambetta - 69007 Lyon 7ème
As part of the opening of its new Sarraounia cultural space, the Carrefour des Cultures Africaines is presenting the exhibition Trésors d'Ailleurs (Treasures from Elsewhere), the highlight of the inauguration.
In October 2023, the Carrefour des Cultures Africaines association inaugurated the Sarraounia cultural space, located within the Maison Internationale Missionnaire, in Lyon's 7th arrondissement.
Founded in 2017, following the closure of the Musée Africain, the Carrefour des Cultures Africaines (CCA) is part of a culture of dialogue and encounters. Building bridges between cultures and peoples is its commitment to everyone, especially young people.
Sarraounia is the name of this new cultural space, in reference to the Queen of the Hausa people, who defended African values.
Open to a wide audience, it is open to associations and public and private partners in the region, France and abroad.
It is organised around two multi-purpose rooms that can host conferences, shows and screenings, and a space dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
Cultural and artistic activities for young people are also offered throughout the year.
The Espace Sarraounia's opening programme begins with the "Trésors d'Ailleurs" exhibition, on show until 30 August 2024. The full programme is available on the website.
